a poem
climbing, hold by slender, slip- // ping \\ hold, //// the heart’s devouring chasm: // and feeling the sudden, // rupturing tear // in / a / deep- / er / vein— // and tasting (with terror) // the blood well up // from / a / deep- / er / root— // and still to turn and fall self- // long beyond where // falling \\ seemed to end.
